Francis Callard, the District Governor (DG) of our new district , visited Gaborone on 29 - 30 October 2010.
DG Francis first engagement was a joint meeting of the Rotary Club of Gaborone and the Rotary Club of Gaborone Tirelo. This was not the DG's first vist to Gaborone as he had visited Gaborone prior to his induction on a fact finding mission to see if it would be a suitable location for the District Conference in 2011.
The DG addressed the clubs on the concerns of membership. He pointed out that membership of Rotary had stagnated over the past 10 years or so. Life styles have changed and people have less time for pursuits such as Rotary. The challenge to members is how to combat the loss of membership in our region and to build strong and successful clubs. The clubs should also look to become more diverse in their choice of members by looking for members to fill classifcations not being held in the club.
