The 2nd Time Adventure Challenge was held on Sunday, 12 July at Mokolodi Nature Reserve. The event was sponsored by Time Projects. The Rotary Club of Gaborone provided the marshals on the four routes and helped obtain the various prizes. The proceeds of the event are to go to the NGO, Young 1ove.

The event  consisted of a 10 km run, a 15 km mountain bike ride to the south, a 15 km mountain bike ride to the north and finishing with a 5 km run. The teams generally consisted of 4 participants but a few competitors did all 4 legs individually. There were other teams that consisted of 2 or 3 participants.
We arrived in the dark and PP Barry Evans, Rtn Jon Major and I erected the Rotary Gazebo and the Rotary banners.
At sunrise we set off to drop off the various marshals at the various selected points. It took a lot longer than anticipated and the last Marshal, being myself, was dropped off at the last point before the finish as the first runners were arriving. Fortunately, we had made a plan an Rtn Tebogo George filled in until I arrived.
The top teams complete the course in a little over 2 hours while the rest were in the region of 2½ - 4 hours plus. The Rotary team managed the course in about 3¾ hours but they finished ahead of many of the other teams. Rtn Tebogo George passed me on her way to the finish of the 5 km run looking as fresh as a daisy.
I received a lot of comments from the riders as they pasted me and most of them where the question “are you sure that was 15 km?”
The speeches and prize giving was held shortly after 12:30 and then everybody had something to eat and drink and then listened to the band organized by Time Projects.
A very big thank you to Time Projects for putting together a well-organized event and for supporting and involving the Rotary Club of Gaborone.
